Yesterday was World Youth Skills Day, and at ODH, we took the opportunity to celebrate the importance of investing in people and creating opportunities for the next generation.

We’re proud to support young talent and help build future careers within the construction industry.

We currently have two apprentices working towards their Level 3 Plumbing and Heating Diploma, gaining valuable practical experience while developing the skills needed for a successful career. Their dedication not only supports their own professional development but also adds real value to our business and the projects we deliver. 🤝

We recently caught up with one of our apprentices, Zac, to hear about his experience so far. 💬

“I joined ODH on 15th September 2025 and am currently undertaking my Level 3 Plumbing and Heating Diploma. Since joining, I’ve been supported by everyone on site, who have taken the time to teach me the correct way to carry out my work and ensure it meets the required standards.

I’m currently working on a large-scale engineering project, where I assist with the installation of mechanical systems, including compressed air and process chilled water systems. My responsibilities include following my supervisor’s instructions, maintaining clean and organised work areas, and supporting the team wherever needed.”

We also spoke to Christian Swahn, who joined ODH as an apprentice and has since successfully completed his qualifications. Today, Christian is a fully qualified Mechanical Site Engineer, demonstrating the opportunities available to those who are committed to learning and developing their skills.

We asked Christian to reflect on his apprenticeship journey, how it helped shape his career, and what he hopes to achieve next. 💬

“Throughout my apprenticeship, ODH supported me every step of the way. Despite challenges outside of my control delaying my qualification, they recognised my skills, commitment, and ability rather than focusing solely on a certificate. The trust they placed in me allowed me to take on greater responsibilities, develop my confidence, and progress into my current role as a Mechanical Site Engineer. My journey has shown me that with the right support and determination, there are real opportunities to build a successful career within the construction industry.”
